When winter temperatures arrive, this Goodman gas furnace delivers dependable whole-home heating with practical efficiency and durable performance. Designed with modern blower and reliable gas burner technology, as well as installation options for compatible applications, it provides a strong heating solution for residential use.
This furnace is perfect for 600–1,000 sq. ft. homes in various climates when properly sized and installed. With a 40,000 BTU input rating and 96% AFUE efficiency, it is designed to provide dependable heating for compatible residential applications. Proper furnace sizing should always be confirmed through a professional load calculation based on climate, insulation, windows, ceiling height, layout, air leakage, and other home-specific factors.
A 96% AFUE furnace provides high-efficiency gas heating performance by converting approximately 96% of fuel consumed into usable heat for your home. For example, a 40,000 BTU input rating at 96% AFUE provides approximately 38,400 BTUs of usable heating output. Because this is a 96% AFUE furnace, it uses PVC venting instead of the metal flue venting required for 80% AFUE furnaces. This furnace is designed for enhanced comfort control compared to basic single-stage equipment.
The integrated 9-speed ECM blower motor provides improved electrical efficiency compared to older PSC blower designs. This blower helps support consistent air circulation throughout the home while reducing electrical consumption during operation.
A heavy-gauge steel cabinet, durable hot surface igniter, self-diagnostic control board, and Goodman’s proven heat exchanger design work together to support long-term performance. The self-diagnostic controls simplify troubleshooting and service, while the insulated cabinet helps reduce operating noise.
Goodman Gas furnaces provide dependable whole-home heating by using a controlled combustion process to create warm air and distribute it through the home’s ductwork.
Key components such as the burner, heat exchanger, blower motor, and venting system work together to deliver consistent comfort while helping maintain safe and efficient operation.
Understanding how these parts function together can make it easier to compare furnace options and choose a system that fits the home’s heating needs.

Multiple buyers report quiet, reliable operation from 60,000–100,000 BTU models, including a 96% efficient 80,000 BTU unit replacing an older 60–66% furnace, with one heating a 1,300 sq ft home in low 20°F weather and others noting lower energy bills and improved two-stage performance. Installations were often completed by homeowners in 6 to 22 hours, though some encountered loose screws, minor shipping damage, wiring cleanup, sensor or setup adjustments, and occasional delivery coordination issues.
