Customized Installation and Operation
The Ultra70 gives you three ways to install it. Tie it into your existing HVAC system with a dedicated 8" return and a supply connection with backdraft damper. Run it on its own separate ductwork. Or set it freestanding in a basement or crawl space when ducting isn't practical.
Both the return air inlet and supply air outlet use 8" duct collars. The back panel comes configured for horizontal flow through and rotates for vertical flow through with a T20 torx bit, which is what lets the same unit work in an attic, a closet, or under a floor.
Fresh air ventilation is optional and simple to add. A "T" into the inlet duct brings outdoor air into the system to dilute pollutants and maintain normal oxygen levels indoors, and the volume is adjustable with a range of dampers and controls.

80% Efficiency Rating
The GR9S800803BX Goodman gas furnace is 80% efficient, and the standard furnace efficiency on the market today. This means that 80% of the gas going into the furnace is used to heat your home and the remaining 20% is lost out of the flue venting. Please note that all 80% furnaces must be vented using metal flue venting, while anything higher than 90% efficient must be vented using plastic/pvc venting.
In California, many counties have a lower NOx emission requirement than the rest of the United States. The GR9S800803BX Goodman gas furnace is California Low NOx compliant. With a built-in low emission filter, this Goodman gas furnace produces less nitrogen oxides to be released into the atmosphere, lowering the overall amount of toxic greenhouse gases output of the average California home.

Single Stage Furnace
The GR9S800803BX Goodman gas furnace is a single stage furnace has only one heat output. Regardless of the indoor temperature, this furnace will burn at 100% output whenever the thermostat calls for it. Like a light switch, this furnace's burner will either be on or off and nothing in between. A single stage furnace is the standard efficient furnace since every time your furnace turns on the furnace uses the same amount of energy.
Natural Gas or LP Furnace
From the factory, the GR9S800803BX runs on natural gas. However all Goodman gas furnaces can be converted to propane using the furnace's corresponding LP conversion kit, an optional accessory at an additional cost that consists of a replacement set of orifices and springs.

I will say that HVAC direct provides a great service in not having to jump through hoops in order for a home owner to buy a furnace. The furnace is built pretty basic and that is what I wanted. Just keep in mind that if you are a homeowner installing the unit on your own and you have an issue with the furnace, you must have a certified tech troubleshoot and give you a report to forward to Goodman in order to use the warranty. HVAC direct ships fast as lightning. Don't be afraid, buy the equipment and save thousands.

I only bought a lower end furnace; but that's not to say it's not a good furnace. For the cost I'm 'very' happy. I expect that as time goes on parts will never be an issue. Nothing fancy here, just a good basic gas furnace. I have experience so I installed it myself, which makes the experience super affordable. Shipment was lightning fast. I live within one state of their West Coast Distribution Center, so I had my furnace in 27 hours from order placement. I would highly recommend HVAV Direct. While I didn't need it, I understand from friends who have; they have great sales support too.
