Austin Air Purifiers

Austin Air has been building air purifiers in Buffalo, New York since 1990. All-steel housing, pounds of activated carbon and zeolite, and Medical Grade HEPA that captures 99% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger, and 95% down to 0.1 microns. No ozone, no ionizer, no gimmicks. Just a lot of air moving through a lot of filter.

The filters last up to 5 years under normal residential use, standard or Junior. That means no monthly pre-filters and no subscription to manage. Replacement filters for all standard size models are available below.

Not sure which size you have? Check the label on the bottom of the unit, or just measure it. Standard filters are 14.5" high. Junior filters are 11.5" high.

Want to upgrade while you are at it? All standard size filters are interchangeable. If you bought a HealthMate® and you have since developed a chemical sensitivity, drop a HealthMate Plus® filter into the same cabinet. Same unit, different job. No new purifier required.

Austin Air Purifier FAQs

Do Austin Air purifiers capture airborne viruses and bacteria?

Yes. Austin Air's Medical Grade HEPA captures 99% of airborne particles 0.3 microns and larger, and 95% of particles down to 0.1 microns. Viruses and bacteria travel through the air attached to respiratory droplets and dust in that size range, so they get pulled out of the airstream right along with pollen, mold spores, and everyday dust. An air purifier is one layer of a healthy home, not a substitute for medical guidance.

Which Austin Air unit should I buy?

Start with what bothers you most. Dust, pollen, and general allergens point to the HealthMate. Chemical sensitivity, VOCs, or new construction smell point to the HealthMate Plus. Allergy and asthma households usually land on the Allergy Machine. For a bedroom, the Bedroom Machine runs quietest and adds HEGA carbon cloth for gases and odors. Pet dander and odor point to the Pet Machine. Every model uses the same Medical Grade HEPA, so you are choosing the filter media, not a better or worse purifier.

Why should you consider an air purifier?
  • Indoor air often carries more particulate than the air outside
  • Sensitivities to airborne particles, chemicals, and gases
  • Pets, smoke, cooking odors, and dust that keep coming back
  • Wildfire season, pollen season, or a home that never quite airs out
What does an air purifier actually remove from my air?
  • Dust, dust mite debris, and dander
  • Pollen and mold spores
  • Smoke and wildfire particulate
  • Airborne bacteria and virus-carrying particles
  • Odors, chemicals, and VOCs, on carbon-equipped models

Removing that load from the air is the whole job. What you notice day to day depends on your home and your own sensitivities.

Why is Austin Air the best choice for me?
  • Medical Grade HEPA captures 99% of particles 0.3 microns and larger, and 95% down to 0.1 microns
  • Pounds of activated carbon and zeolite, not a thin carbon-dusted sheet
  • Filters last up to five years, so there is nothing to reorder every month
  • All-steel housing, built in Buffalo, New York
  • No ozone, no ionizer, no UV lamp
What is the difference between the Austin Air models?

Every model shares the same four-stage filtration and steel housing. What changes is the filter media inside. The HealthMate handles general dust, allergens, and odors. The HealthMate Plus adds extra carbon and zeolite treated for chemicals and VOCs. The Allergy Machine adds a HEPARest layer for allergy and asthma households. The Bedroom Machine adds HEGA carbon cloth and runs quieter for sleeping spaces. The Pet Machine targets dander and pet odor.

How often do I need to change the filter?

Austin Air filters are built to last up to five years under normal residential use. There are no monthly pre-filters to buy and no filter subscription to manage. Heavy smoke, wildfire, construction dust, or commercial use will shorten that window.

Do Austin Air purifiers produce ozone?

No. Austin Air units use mechanical filtration only. There are no ionizers, no UV lamps, and no ozone generators, so nothing is added back into the air you breathe.

What size room will an Austin Air purifier cover?

Full size units are rated for large open living areas, and the Junior models are sized for bedrooms, offices, and nurseries. Check the coverage rating on the specific model page, since square footage assumes standard eight foot ceilings and a closed room.

Where are Austin Air purifiers made and what is the warranty?

Austin Air units are built in Buffalo, New York. They come backed by a mechanical warranty on the unit and a prorated warranty on the filter. Check the product page for the exact terms on your model.
